Adult & Child Psychotherapy 

Psychotherapy aims to assist clients gain a greater insight into their difficulties or distress. It helps them establish a greater understanding of their behaviours and enables them to find more appropriate ways of coping or bringing about changes in their thinking and actions.

Adult or Child Psychotherapy/counselling involves exploring feelings, beliefs, thoughts and relevant events, sometimes from childhood and often in the present in a structured way.

Our team of psychologists and psychotherapists are qualified and experienced in each of the core disciplines of psychotherapy and are therefore able to select a therapeutic approach that is optimally suited to each client or patient. An approach might be in the form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Humanistic or Psychoanalytic therapy or an evidenced based approach that is informed by these traditions, such as Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT) or Solution Focussed Therapy.

Frequently, the most important element of therapy is a space in which to process ones emotions about a situation rather than merely effect behavioural change. In such circumstances a humanistic and existential approach might be used.

Adults and children can benefit from counselling and at the clinic most of our interventions tend to be short term, between 3 and 8 sessions with 5 sessions being the average.
